Hatsan 125 Sniper 5.5 mm 10J Vortex is a powerful break barrel air rifle equipped with Hatsan's Vortex gas piston instead of a traditional steel spring. It is used just like a regular break barrel air rifle, but provides a smoother and more controlled shooting experience with less vibration. The model is based on Hatsan’s proven 125 platform with a large cylinder and combines high performance with improved ergonomics and flexible optics mounting. Cock the rifle by breaking the barrel downward and load with pellets.

Sniper version with improved ergonomics

The Sniper model differs from the standard version, among other things, by having a more advanced stock and a more flexible sight solution:

Dual sight base – both 11 mm dovetail and 21 mm Weaver rail for greater flexibility when choosing optics and mounting

Vortex gas piston – functions like a regular break barrel air rifle

Unlike traditional spring air rifles, this model uses Hatsan’s Vortex gas piston instead of a standard steel spring. For you as a shooter, the gun still functions exactly like a standard break barrel air rifle — you cock it by breaking the barrel and you do not need to fill the gun with air before use.
The advantage of the gas piston is that it provides a calmer and more controlled shooting experience:

Less vibration – smoother shooting feel and better accuracy
No twisting spring force – more stable shot release
Faster firing – shorter time from trigger pull until the pellet leaves the barrel
Quieter operation compared to traditional steel spring

The gas piston can also be pressure-adjusted with a PCP pump or scuba tank, but this is not necessary for normal use. PCP pump or scuba tank is only relevant if you want to change the pressure in the gas piston. If you increase the power, the gun becomes license-required.

Sights and scope mounting

The rifle comes with Truglo fiber optic sights in red and green. The Sniper version has a mounted sight base that combines both 11 mm dovetail and 21 mm Weaver rail, which provides great flexibility when choosing a scope or red dot.

5.5 mm caliber – popular mid-caliber with better wind resistance

Caliber 5.5 mm (.22) is a very popular mid-size caliber for airguns. The pellets are larger and heavier than in 4.5 mm, which gives better wind resistance, more noticeable hits, and more retained energy at longer distances. This makes the caliber a good choice for those who want a more stable shooting feel. Furthermore, 5.5 mm is the minimum legal caliber for pest control where permitted and where the required power and other regulations are met.

Considerations regarding power

This version is set to provide maximum non-license power in Sweden, which is about 138 m/s in 5.5 mm caliber. The gas piston can be pressure-adjusted, but the gun then becomes license-required.
