The Petromax Dutch Oven Essential ft9 is a classic cast iron pot for cooking over open fire, grill, stove, and in the oven. The large size is suitable for about 8–14 people and offers plenty of space for stews, slow-cooked dishes, bread, roasts, and other recipes where even heat is crucial for the result. A Dutch Oven differs from regular pots in that it is designed to be used directly in the coals. By placing embers or briquettes on top of the lid, you create overhead heat, making the pot work like a small oven. This allows you to bake bread, make gratins, or cook larger pieces of meat with even heat from all sides.

Cast iron that retains heat for a long time

The heavy-duty cast iron absorbs heat efficiently and releases it slowly and evenly. This results in a stable temperature and great searing while the ingredients retain their juiciness and flavor. The material is especially well-suited for slow-cooked meals, chili, pulled pork, sourdough bread, and other dishes that benefit from even cooking.

The Essential series uses slightly thinner material than Petromax's older (and more expensive) Dutch Ovens, which results in lower weight and easier handling without losing the excellent heat properties of cast iron.

Lid that also works as a frying pan

The multifunctional lid can be used separately as a frying pan on a grill grate, gas burner, or over an open fire. You can, for example, sear meat in the lid before finishing it in the pot, or use it for eggs, vegetables, and other side dishes.

Equally suitable at home or in camp

The Petromax Dutch Oven Essential ft9 works on most heat sources and is just as suitable in the garden as at the campsite or in hunting and fishing camps. The pre-seasoned surface allows the pot to be used right away, and the patina gradually improves with use, giving better natural non-stick properties over time.
