Product description
Wonderful reindeer hide that fits perfectly in the home, the bushcraft camp, on the sled, on horseback or in the wagon. Thick and fine, insulates extremely well and contributes to a really lovely feeling wherever they are.
A skin is intended, the pictures show examples. Reindeer skin is a natural product from reindeer in Norway, just like the reindeer, the skins also vary slightly in color, shape and size. Delivered unsorted.
Reindeer skin has been used for thousands of years as a sitting and lying pad. They can absorb moisture from the ground on wet surfaces. To avoid this, you can instead use our skins with a silicone-treated back, but otherwise these untreated ones are historically proven for both indoor and outdoor use, but you may need to dry them at room temperature if they get wet.
This is B- class, we also have our other A-class/first class as item number 42482.
The B-class can e.g. have insect bites on the skin, small holes from the tanning process or similar "defects". However, this is what you mostly see on the back, lying as usual on the sofa or the floor, they are nice and this is usually how reindeer skins usually are, our first selection is extra nice, however.
Reindeer skins are good to wear under the saddle on horses. Reindeer hair is thick and seems to absorb shock while spreading pressure over the horse. Also reduces the risk of chafing.
According to my own experience, they are very popular with dogs to lie on, they are thick so it is very soft for the dog.
Measurements approx. 140x90 cm.
The reindeer skins are alum-tanned, a very old tanning method from farming society. So they are not chrome-tanned!
