Genuine first-sorting reindeer skin – dense, warm, and with the characteristic natural feel. Perfect for use at home, in the tent, in a shelter, or as a seat cover by the fire. The hide insulates very well against cold and irregularities and provides a lovely Nordic touch.

Reindeer hides have been used for thousands of years as sleeping pads and saddle pads. The thick fur provides cushioning and distributes pressure evenly under the saddle – the same properties that make the hide an unbeatable sleeping pad for humans (and also loved by dogs). When used directly on the ground, the hide can absorb some moisture – let it dry slowly at room temperature. For wetter environments, we recommend our variant with a silicone-treated backside.

First sorting means that the hide has been selected in the highest quality class of the tannery. These hides have minimal marks or small damages on the backside from insect bites and tanning, and are more symmetrical in shape and color than lower sorts. Each hide is a natural product - variations in color, shade, and texture occur and make each piece unique. The hide is alum-tanned, a traditional method without chrome!
