In cold weather, self-inflating rubber-based sleeping mats can crack when rolled and valves can freeze. Antarctic Mat WGTE uses only sleeping bag insulation to prevent heat loss, so you don't have to worry about anything cracking or freezing.

Antarctic mat WGTE uses a layer of sleeping bag insulation to prevent convective heat loss between your body and the ground. Any sweat carried away from your sleeping bag will also penetrate to the bottom of the mat, leaving your sleeping bag dry.

The UK Antarctic Mat WGTE uses Snugpak's exclusive Softie Premier insulation, the same insulation they use in all their British sleeping bags.

• Ground Protection: The Antarctic mat can be used under the tent floor, directly on the ground, to protect the tent floor from branches and rocks.


• Easy to repair: Should an accident happen out in the field, the Antarctic mat can be easily repaired with a roll of silver tape and work as usual.


• High absorbency: Any sweat that is diverted from your sleeping bag will also to be sucked through to the underside of the mat, keeping your sleeping bag dry.


• Compression sack: The Antarctic mat comes with a compression sack to help reduce its bulk. This means you can store the mat in your backpack instead of having to attach it to the outside like traditional sleeping mats.


• Combine two sleeping mats: By combining two mats using Velcro fasteners around the edges, you can create an emergency sleeping bag or a double layer sleeping pad.


• Use everywhere: The Antarctic mat is much more adaptable than a self-inflating or rolling sleeping pad because the Antarctic mat uses insulation. You can fold or press it into different configurations, like in a hammock or on a tight floor space.


• Use as a poncho or extra insulation: the Antarctic mat has Velcro fasteners along the edges so you can use it as a poncho over your shoulders or even wrap it around your body for added insulation when sitting down. It can even be used as a simple hammock pad!
