Nikwax Tech wash/TX.Direct is a two-pack containing both the detergent Tech Wash and the impregnation agent TX.Direct.

Tech Wash from Nikwax is a soap-based detergent that can be used when washing impregnated clothes and equipment made of both natural materials and synthetic material. The agent reactivates the garment's impregnation and water-repellent properties while removing dirt and residues of old detergent.

Nikwax TX.Direct is an impregnation agent that renews the water-repellent properties of synthetic garments while keeping you dry and comfortable longer without affect the moisture-transporting properties. TX.Direct is recommended together with Nikwax Techwash when it is to be used on vapor-permeable materials such as Gore-Tex, Entrent, eVent, Sympatex and the like.

Note that when washing functional materials, fabric softener should never be used. The fabric softener acts as a conditioner that leaves a coating that clogs the pores in the material's fibers and thus counteracts the moisture-transporting properties regardless of whether it is natural or synthetic material. When your garment has been worn and the water repellent (DWR) coating has started to show signs of wear, such as not beading the water the way it did when the garment was new even after washing with Nikwax detergent, it is time for a re-impregnation.
